financial times
wickedgypsy79 asked:

I am a college sr. who is registered for 11 hours and wait listed for an additional 4. I am concerned I will not be eligible for financial aid because I am technically part time until the wait listing comes off. There is no guarantee that it will either. Should I find another class and drop the 4 hour one altogether? Should I add another class and keep the 4 hour class in question, or should I wait and hope to get into the class I need?

Also, yes, I DO need this class to graduate.

The hr one you recently added if the one you can always drop the hr one you.
The one you recently added if the hour class becomes available.

Even part-time students are eligible for financial aid. I had something similar happen two years ago when I decided to go part-time for a semester. Since I’d already accepted my fin. aid package for the year, I was eligible to receive the same level of fin. aid as a part-time student.

Depending on your school, you might not be eligible for the honors list if you are less than a full-time student during the term itself. If you want to take a full course load, I would recommend searching for another class that doesn’t conflict time-wise with the one you want to get into and still fulfills a requirement and add that one. Go to both the first day and if you manage to get into the one you want, just remember to drop the other one before the drop date.

Also, if you are waitlisted and this is your last semester, I would talk to the professor, your academic adviser, and even the dean of your college if necessary to emphasize how important it is that you get into this class. If there are enough people on the waitlist, they might add another section or give you priority (this varies so much school to school as I’m sure you’ve discovered).

Best of luck :)
